ACE (Assembly on Computers in English) is a non-profit organization of English language arts teachers and teacher educators dedicated to intelligent technology integration into the English language arts. A long-standing assembly of the National Council of Teachers of English, ACE believes that new technologies can reinforce reading and writing instruction in powerful and productive ways.

Our mission is to promote communication, cooperation, and expertise among English teachers who want to use computers in their classrooms and curriculum. As key parts of this mission, we present a yearly workshop at the NCTE conference and offer year-round consulting to ACE members. ACE actively recruits new members, both at the NCTE conference and through this site.

What ACE Offers

For just $15.00, ACE offers individual consulting on technology-based projects within the English language arts. ACE consultants have years of experience working with a wide range of technology applications, including threaded discussions, listservs, chatrooms, MOOs and MUDS, webquests, digital stories, weblogs, podcasts, hypertext, electronic archives, e-portfolios, and more. Subscribing to ACE gets you personal access to our consultants, who will work with you to tailor a technology solution that fits your classroom.

ACE also runs a yearly workshop at the NCTE convention. Workshop participants learn practical ways to integrate technology into English language arts curricula regardless of instructional level or technological expertise. Participants also experience hands-on engagement in a number of computer applications and teaching strategies. Workshop leaders, incorporating group discussion and one-to-one coaching, guide participants through short hands-on sessions. Following each session, participants have ample time to ask additional questions about integrating each application into their schools.
